Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, says he would join security operatives in patrolling the Kano-Kaduna boundary during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration to prevent people entering the state from Kano.
Mr El-Rufai said on Tuesday that this was part of measures to check the spread of the coronavirus.
The Eid-el-Fitri which marks the end of Ramadan is slated for Saturday or Sunday.
The governor spoke during a media chat with selected radio stations in Kaduna.
“I will ensure that I personally visit and patrol the Kaduna-Kano boundary on Sallah day and I will remain there from morning till night to see who will dare enter Kaduna State. I will not leave there until late at night,” El-Rufai said.
He blamed ‘corrupt’ security operatives for allowing people into the state despite the ban on inter-state travels.
Meanwhile, Kaduna Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement that the state had sealed its entry points to all travellers including those transporting food and other essential services between 6 pm and 6 am.
