Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on Tuesday revealed he and businessman Tony Elumelu served as members of the National Youth Service Corps in Sokoto State many years ago.
Mr Fayemi revealed this via Twitter in a belated birthday message sent to Mr Elumelu who clocked 58 on Monday.
“Sending belated birthday wishes to my friend and brother, Mr. Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu @TonyOElumelu, chairman of Heirs Holdings, the United Bank for Africa @UBAGroup, Transcorp Holdings, and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation @TonyElumeluFDN,” Fayemi wrote.

He is one of the leading economists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists in Africa, who is leading the #Africapitalism economic philosophy that the African private sector has the power to transform the continent through long-term investments, creating both #economic prosperity and social #wealth.”
Speaking on the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, the governor added: “Through the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) @TonyElumeluFDN launched in 2015, he has put in place a $100million Programme that is empowering 10,000 #entrepreneurs over 10 years.
“This initiative is helping to democratise access to the intellectual and #financial capacity for young African entrepreneurs to drive wealth creation and #development in #Africa. Happy Birthday TOE.”
