Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi has been selected as one of the honorees of The Future Awards Africa Prize for young person of the year 2018.
Singer David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, youth development advocate Samson Itodo, IT specialist Nemitari Ajienka, and researcher and scientist Mahmoud Maina also make the list.
The Central Working Committee (CWC) of the award group unveiled the list in a press release on Tuesday.
Adeyemi has suffered tons of backlashes in the past week after she accused veteran American novelist Nora Roberts of stealing her book title Children of Blood and Bone for Roberts’ upcoming book Of Blood and Bone.
The 25-year-old’s growing reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the literary world took a heavy blow after she wrongfully accused Roberts of plagiarism.
The Future Awards, which is set to hold on 16 December 2018, celebrates innovation among Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 31.
