Former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Ike, has dedicated the Nollywood Living Legend honour bestowed on him at the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards 2017 to individuals who died as a result of domestic violence.

The award ceremony took place on September 8 in German.

Thanking God in an Instagram post on Friday, the divorced father-of-four said the award was for “all the loving men and women, who died in the hands of their beloved spouses.”

A Lagos Island Customary Court had in March 2017 dissolved the marriage between Emeka and his ex-wife, Emma, over irreconcilable differences.

Emma, a teacher, had on July 13, 2015, approached the court to dissolve the 14-year-old marriage.

She accused Emeka of physically and verbally abusing her all through the duration of their marriage.

The actor said she was acting under the influence of her pastor and bad friends.

Court President, Mr Awos Awosola, said from the totality of the evidence before the court, it was obvious that the marriage was beyond redemption.

“Emeka, who has been begging to be reconciled with his wife, has not made any effort towards the reconciliation.

“The marriage is hereby dissolved with effect from March 2, in accordance with the Lagos State Customary Court Law, 2011; Order 3 Rule 7 as amended,” the judge pronounced.
