Emir of Ilorin Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on Wednesday clocked 25 years on the throne of his ancestors.
The 80-year-old ascended the throne as the 11th emir on November 11, 1995.
A former Kwara State governor and ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki sent the first-class monarch good wishes on Twitter.
“Today, I join all the good people of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ascension to the throne of Mai Martaba, HRH, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari — the Emir of Ilorin,” he wrote.
“Your Highness, it is my heartfelt prayer that Almighty Allah (SWT) shall continue to grant you good health, strength and abundant wisdom as you serve Him, the great people of Ilorin, Kwara State and our dear nation, Nigeria.”
President Muhammadu Buhari in a congratulatory message by his spokesman Garba Shehu on Tuesday described the emir as “an exemplary leader who has been at the forefront of community service, inspiring his people towards excellence in education and other human endeavors.”
Emir Sulu-Gambari is the permanent chairman of Kwara State Traditional Council.
