Emir of Kano Aminu Ado-Bayero has renewed his driver’s licence at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) driver’s licence main centre in Kano.
A statement on Tuesday by the sector commander FRSC Kano State Sector Command, Zubairu Mato, said the Emir obtained his first licence in 1982.
“The exercise is good and an excellent example,” the statement said.
Mato also highlighted the importance of obtaining the licence as it could serve as a personal ID card.
Mato noted further that the license could also be used for many national and mandatory functions in the bank, for insurance, and at hospitals.
“The national driver’s licence can be exchanged with other countries’ driver’s licence,” the statement said.
Ado-Bayero called on the public, especially tricycle drivers, to renew their licences.
He also urged other traditional leaders to show leadership and come out in person to renew their licences.
He thanked the Sector Commander of the FRSC Kano State, chairman of Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) and director of Road Traffic Service for their diligence in making motoring environment safe and easy in the state.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan also renewed his driver’s licence in person earlier this year.
