Supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) booed the Emir of Kano Aminu Bayero on Monday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, venue of the inauguration ceremony for the new governor Abba Yusuf.
Kano State is now controlled by NNPP after the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to keep the state on its hold.
As soon as Emir Bayero, a first-class monarch, arrived at the venue, angry crowds started shouting at the top of their voices.
Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Bayero, younger brother of the Kano Emir, was also booed.
But security operatives quickly moved in and escorted the monarchs to their seats.
The immediate past governor of Kano Abdullahi Ganduje installed Bayero as Emir after deposing the popular Muhammadu Sanusi.
Governor Yusuf had said he would review the removal of Sanusi as Emir after his inauguration.
