Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Sunday paid N5 million as fines imposed on some inmates at Kurmawa and Goron Dutse Prisons within Kano metropolis to secure their release.
The Emir, in the spirit of Ramadan, urged the inmates to consider their stay at the prison as a will of God and period to reflect on their conducts.
Sanusi, whose emirate is being investigated by the state government for alleged money laundering, advised the inmates to use the remaining Ramadan period to seek Allah’s forgiveness and intervention.
He also called for them to be of good behaviour and avoid any act that would drag them back to the prison.
Acting comptroller of Kano State Prisons, Aliyu Yahuza, said the monarch’s visit was a clear indication of his concern to his subjects.
Mr Yahuza said the prisons were committed to training and retraining the inmates in various vocational skills.
