Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has received his fourth wife, Sa’adatu Mustapha, four years after the wedding took place.
The traditional Budar Kai ceremony takes place on Sunday (today) after she was presented to the Emir on Saturday.
Sa’adatu, 22, went to the United Kingdom for study shortly after the marriage on September 25, 2015 in Yola, Adamawa State.
She is the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Mustafa.
At the time the marriage was contracted, Sanusi was represented at the event by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, while then Adamawa State Governor, Jibrilla Bindow, played the role of the bride’s guardian, who gave her hand out in marriage.
Sanusi was away in Saudi Arabia as leader of Nigeria’s delegation to the Hajj.
Sanusi, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has three other wives, which are Sadiya, daughter of the late emir of Kano, Ado Bayero; Maryam, and Rakiya.
