France President, Emmanuel Macron, tried his hand at speaking pidgin English during his two-day visit to Lagos.
His visit was eventful and filled with many memorable moments as he was seen dancing on stage with Femi Kuti as he performed at the New Afrika Shrine on Tuesday.
One of the interesting moments is a BBC video in which the President of France took a stab at the increasingly popular pidgin English.
“My name na Emmanuel Macron. Na me be di President of France and I dey kampe for Lagos today,” Macron said.
Macron visited the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos to inaugurate the African Cultural season to be hosted in France in 2020.
He disclosed that he has fond memories of the shrine. In his early years, Macron worked as an intern at the French embassy from six months.
Yemi Alade and Femi Kuti delivered energetic musical performances on the night of Macron’s visit.
This was followed by a short skit by Nollywood stars including Joke Silva, Dakore Akande, Rita Dominic and Ramsey Nuoah, where Macron played the role of a film director alongside Kunle Afolayan.
