Police in Lagos on Tuesday began a show of force to dissuade those planning on staging #EndSARS memorial protests in the state on Wednesday, October 20.
The protests are being staged in honour of those who died after security forces opened fire on unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate in Lagos last year. #EndSARS is a movement against police brutality.
According to activists backing the planned protests, a car procession will be held in honour of the deceased.
The car procession will drive through the Lekki tollgate in Lagos which was the epicentre of the protests last year.
Lagos police spokesperson Adekunle Ajisebutu had in a statement, a few days ago, warned that the police would not hesitate to use all legal means to stop the protest from taking place following the experience of the last #EndSARS protests.
