The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Thursday night said it has the powers to restrict movement following concerns it seized the passport of an #EndSARS promoter Modupe Odele.
NIS spokesman Sunday James said in a statement that the rumour about restriction of movements at the border posts had nothing to do with the protest.
Odele, a lawyer, was prevented from boarding an Emirates flight to the Maldives through Dubai on Sunday.
“As an enforcement agency in charge of border management, if there is an order restricting anybody from entry into the country, we enforce it without any prejudice,” the NIS said.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with EndSARS protest or an individual, it is a routine assignment.”
Odele offered free legal assistance to several persons who were arrested by the police during the protest which rocked Lagos for two weeks.
