England loss could be Nigeria’s gain as Everton winger, Ademola Lookman, is set to switch allegiance to Nigeria after representing the Three Lions at youth level.
Lookman, 20, presently at the U21 cadre, has featured for the U19’s and U20’s too.
According to the Pulse, the England Under-20 World Cup winner is set to declare his allegiance to the Super Eagles, the country of his parents.
London-born, Lookman has made 27 appearances for various England teams – including that 2017 World Cup final when England beat Venezuela – and has long been targeted by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).
But after turning down the Eagles following a meeting with NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, earlier this year, it is now reported that Lookman has changed his mind and is poised to announce his decision.
The Pulse Sports source claimed: “An announcement will be made soon, I’m close to his management and they have confirmed that he has made the decision.”
Lookman was called up by Aidy Boothroyd last week for England’s Under-21 side for the Euro 2019 qualifiers but was not in the matchday squad.
Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina are the most recent to abandon their adopted nations.
Lookman has been a shining light since joining Everton in 2015 – flaunting dashing pace and fleet feet.
He excelled away on loan at RB Leipzig the last term but must fight for his place with the Toffees.
