Ese Brume has spoken about her friendship with fellow athlete Tobi Amusan following their victorious outing at the 2022 World Athletics Championship and the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Brume posted a video of them to Instagram on Friday, stating that more is achieved together than being apart.
In the video, the 24-year-old is seen hugging Amusan after winning the gold medal in the long jump event at the Commonwealth Games as Fireboy’s ‘Champion’ plays in the background.
Amusan also shakes hands with her as she wipes sweat off Brume’s face.
Captioning the post, the Delta indigene wrote, “We are more powerful together than apart.”
In Birmingham on Sunday, August 7, Brume secured gold with a jump to spare after her opponents were unable to match her 6.99m, 6.81m, 6.99m, and 6.96m jumps.
On her last attempt, the athlete jumped 7.00m to become the first woman to jump that far in the history of the Commonwealth Games.
At the World Championships, Brume came second with an impressive 7.02metres leap.
She also celebrated the win with Amusan as the duo won Nigeria’s only medals at the 2022 championship on the final day of the event.
She wrote, “For those who are wondering how it came about – Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities as athletes. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.
“Just like my coach will always say ‘It is the mental picture that creates the actual picture that will fiction in the future’. God has shown up. Turning our dream into reality.”
