Clergywoman and philanthropist Esther Ajayi is set to open Love of Christ Generation Church Cathedral, Victoria Island, Lagos.
This is her first church in Lagos. Ajayi also pastors a church, Love of Christ Generation Church (Cherubim and Seraphim), based in London.
In 2015, the church moved into a newly renovated cathedral in Clapham, London, with hundreds of worshippers and thousands of social media followers every day.
Ajayi had given high profile individuals a tour of the church in Lagos ahead of its grand opening on Sunday, September 5.
Those who have visited include former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, industrialist Rasaq Okoya, musician Ebenezer Obey, Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, chairman of Air Peace Allen Onyema among others.
She spoke with PUNCH in an interview published on Sunday about her relationship with politicians and traditional rulers.
“The key is humility, love and giving,” she said. “When some people meet me at social gatherings, they could have thought that I might be arrogant, haughty or even have a ‘holier than thou’ disposition. But, when they see me being jovial, they would loosen up. We are humans at the end of the day.”
