Eucharia Anunobi blows hot over report she blamed sickle cell for marriage breakdown

Actress-turned-preacher Eucharia Anunobi has dismissed a report by controversial blogger and movie producer Stanley Ontop, claiming her marriage ended due to the strain of caring for a child with sickle cell anemia.

The controversy erupted after Stanley shared an Instagram post attributing an emotional narrative to the actress.

The post alleged that Eucharia’s marriage collapsed under the financial and emotional weight of managing her late son’s health issues, which also purportedly disrupted her acting career.

The post, titled “SICKLE CELL ENDED MY MARRIAGE AND ALSO MY CAREER,” claimed Eucharia recounted how hospital visits, medical bills and the constant pain her son endured led to fights with her then-husband.

It concluded with a warning to couples to consider genotype compatibility before committing to marriage.

It read in part, “From the moment I had him, my marriage began to hit the rocks. It was one hospital visit after another, one medical expense after another.

“The experience put a strain on our love. My husband blamed me, and I blamed him too… Finally, in 2006, our marriage ended, and I was left alone with my son.”

The post gained traction online, with some media outlets reposting it.

However, Eucharia, 59, categorically denied making the statements, calling out Stanley under his post.

“Whoever you are writing an unfounded story with my pictures to chase clout: Delete this post before the wrath of God will consume you and all that you represent,” she warned.

Stanley, however, fired back, claiming the actress had shared the story during a public address and challenged her to dispute the existence of a video recording.

He responded, “The wrath of God doesn’t work on me because I am Christ-like… You told this story yourself. Do you want me to bring a video of you saying it while on the pulpit? Anyways, never mind. I am a blogger, and I am blogging what you said.”

Eucharia Anunobi was married to Charles Ekwu. In 2000, they welcomed their son, Raymond Ekwu, but they divorced six years later.

Raymond passed away in 2017 at the age of 17 due to complications from sickle cell anemia.
