Portugal skipper, Cristiano Ronaldo, and French forward, Antoine Griezmann, were named in the Euro 2016 Team of the Tournament.
The Seleção stunned the universe on Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes when they defeated host France to win their first major international title.
Despite watching most of the final from the sideline, Ronaldo still made the team of the tournament.
The tournament’s Best XI is made up of four Portuguese players, three Germans, two Frenchmen and two Welsh as selected by a panel of coaches.
Conspicuously missing is Ronaldo’s Real Madrid teammate, Gareth Bale, who scored thrice in the competition as Wales made the semi-finals for the first time.
But there were spots for his compatriots, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen, who were equally instrumental to their quest.
Griezmann, who swept the tournament’s Golden Shoe and Ball awards, is joined by another charismatic Frenchman, Dimitri Payet.
Bayern Munich pair Joshua Kimmich and Jerome Boateng alongside Toni Kroos represented the German contingent – while Portuguese trio Pepe, Rui Patricio and Raphael Guerreiro joined their skipper in the team.
Commenting on the Team of the Tournament, UEFA coaching ambassador, Sir Alex Ferguson explained on UEFA.com: “After quite a bit of deliberation, the observers chose a team that features the best performing players from the best performing teams at UEFA EURO 2016.”
Defending every single pick, the legendary ex-Manchester United coach continued: “We have chosen dominant central defenders; full-backs who can defend and attack; deep-lying midfielders who can control the game and dynamic, flexible and creative attackers, all of whom have the ability to create and score goals. We believe that the selected XI represents the best of the competition.”
