Five teams have joined the seven already qualified for the next round of the European Championships with Northern Ireland the latest to make it through.
Michael O’Neill’s side lost 1-0 to world champions Germany on Tuesday afternoon which meant that they finished third in the group.
However, following the result in Group D in the evening they have been confirmed as one of the best third placed sides who make it through to the round of 16.
They join Germany and Poland from their Group C in the next round and will face either France or Northern Ireland in the last 16.
In Group D, Croatia have progressed as the group winners after they beat Spain 2-1 in their match, with the reigning champions progressing in second place.
That means Spain will face Antonio Conte’s Italy in the next round as the Azzuri have already been assured top spot in Group E.
Turkey beat Czech Republic 2-0 in the other game to mean they move into third place but they face an anxious wait to see if they are one of the teams who will make it through or not.
On Wednesday, Belgium, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland will all compete to join Italy in the next round whilst Hungary, Austria, Portugal and Iceland will all be in action in Group F.
