Super Eagles new boy, Henry Onyekuru, may not be heading to Arsenal after all with Everton likely to be his next destination.
Onyekuru, 19, has been the subject of intense interest from several English clubs, with Arsene Wenger’s side rumoured to be in the forefront.
But according to multiple reports in the British press, the youngster capped just once by Nigeria is on his way to Goodison Park and not the Emirates as widely speculated.
Daily Mirror claims the youngster completed a medical on Monday evening with the dotted lines all but signed.
He is alleged to cost the club around £6.8million as Ronald Koeman continues his summer spending – but is expected to spend next season on loan at Anderlecht.
Last season, the forward struck 24 goals for KAS Eupen to finish as joint-topscorer in the Belgian League.
Should the Toffees deal eventually go through, then Onyekuru may have to wait a little longer before fulfilling his childhood dream of playing for Arsenal.
“The Premier League is my dream league, although I would rather go to Arsenal,” the 19-year-old said in December.
“Football was my relaxation after school. With my friends, we watched the Premier League every weekend.
“I’m a huge Arsenal fan, Thierry Henry is my idol. Now I’m a professional footballer, I try to copy him as much as possible.
“I look back to the games I saw as a boy, but I also regularly watch videos on YouTube to see how he did certain things.”
