Former host of CNN’s “Inside Africa,” Soni Methu, has died at the age of 34.
Her sister, Faith Methu, in a statement, said the Kenyan journalist slumped on Thursday in Kenya and died on the way to the hospital.
The cause of death is still unknown, however, “a post mortem will be done to tell exactly what happened,” Faith said.
Methu was the first Kenyan to host CNN International’s longest-running feature program from 2014 until 2015 when the show moved to a new format without a presenter.
CNN in a statement expressed its shock at the incident.
“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and former colleague Soni Methu. Our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, from all at CNN,” it said.
Methu worked for two years as east Africa correspondent at South African news channel, eNCA.
