A Jos Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama on Friday sentenced a 27-year-old ex-convict, Abdul Haruna, to four years jail term for housebreaking and stealing.

Haruna, an electrician, had earlier been jailed nine months in 2017 for a similar offence.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt Ibrahim Gukwat, the case was reported on January 4 at Raranto Police Station by Sunday Onoha of Akwan Lambo, Apata Street.

Gukwat told the court that the convict broke into the house and stole one HP Laptop, one Samsung Laptop, one woofer, one stabiliser, four pairs of shoes and two DVD players.

The prosecutor said during police investigation, it was discovered that Haruna conspired with one Mr Biggie, who is now at large, to steal the listed items.

“Police conducted a search in the house of Haruna and found all the missing items,” Gukwat said.

On arraignment, he pleaded guilty to the charges and begged the court to have mercy on him.

Gukwat said that the offence was contrary to Sections 287 and 351of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Yahaya Mohammed, sentenced the accused to four years imprisonment without any option of fine.

Mohammed said that the sentence would serve as deterrent to others.
