A former minister of agriculture and water resources Abba Ruma died on Wednesday in a London hospital.
Ruma, from Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, was a minister under late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
The family is yet to announce the cause of death. Sources close to the family told PUNCH that Ruma’s remains would be flown to Nigeria on Friday.
Aged 59, Ruma was born on March 13, 1962, and is survived by two wives and nine children.
He served under the late Yar’Adua, between 2007 and 2010.
He was also appointed minister of state in the Federal Ministry of Education in 2005 under Oby Ezekwesili, and in 2007, he served briefly as the minister of education when Mrs Ezekwesili took up a World Bank job.
