Actress Simisola Gold, who was sentenced to six months imprisonment for spraying and stepping on the new naira notes at a social event in Lagos, has drummed support for crossdresser Bobrisky following his conviction for abuse of naira.
Bobrisky was convicted for abuse of naira by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday.
Trial judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro convicted the defendant following his guilty plea to the charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court reserved till April 9, to sentence the convict and ordered that he be remanded in custody of the EFCC.
Reacting in an Instagram post on Friday, Simsola shared photos of herself and Bobrisky writing, “Bobrisky, nothing do you my friend, you are coming out of this stronger with your head up.”
In another post, she wrote: “Sending you loads of love, my sweetheart.
Recall that Simisola was arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Fraud Related Offences Commission (ICPC) early in February 2023 after videos of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned naira notes at a party surfaced online.
She was first arraigned on February 13, 2023, by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on two-count charges, to which she pleaded “not guilty.”
Delivering judgement, Justice Aneke sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment, with an option of a N300,000 (three hundred thousand naira only) fine to be paid into the consolidated revenue account of the federation.
