Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (retd.), who was president of the Nigeria Football Federation from 1999 to 2002, has passed on at the age of 73.
Current NFF president Amaju Pinnick confirmed Oneya’s death.
Oneya, a native of Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli, reportedly died on Thursday morning in his home at Effurun GRA in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. He was born on May 26, 1948.
Oneya served in various capacities in CAF committees and recently headed the ministerial committee on reforms in Nigerian football.
From 1996 to 1998, he was military administrator of Kano State. While he was military administrator of Benue State during the reign of Abdulsalami Abubakar between 1998 and 1999.
