The remains of former Super Eagles defender Ajibade Babalade will be buried in Ibadan, Oyo State capital on January 15, 2021, retired goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu has told PUNCH.
Shorunmu was Babalade’s teammate at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.
“The family has mentioned January 14 and 15, 2021 for the burial of the late Ajibade,” he said.
“The lying-in-state is on the 14th, which is a Thursday, at the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan between 4pm to 6pm. Then on Friday, the service for burial will start by 9am and between 11 and 12 pm, everything should be over.
“From the look of things, I think arrangements for the burial are properly in place.”
Babalade died in September in Ibadan after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest.
Named team manager of Shooting Stars in 2008, Babalade is survived by a wife and three children based in the United States.
