Kidnappers of the retired United States Army officer Major Jide Ijadare have demanded N20million for his release, a family source has revealed.
Leadership gathered that the kidnappers contacted a member of the family on Wednesday.
“Yes, they contacted one of the family members this morning (Wednesday) and made that demand,” the source said.
“Though, the matter had been reported to the police since life was involved and they are also doing their bit to ensure that the abductors are released in time.”
Ekiti police spokesman Sunday Abutu, however, said the police were not aware of any ransom.
Ijadare was kidnapped on Tuesday in his palm oil-producing factory located on Ijan-Ise-Ekiti road, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti.
The kidnappers, said to be seven in number, had invaded the factory where they shot dead one person and kidnapped the US returnee and another victim.
