Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has told Leicester City fans to count on him to hit the target more often.
Iheanacho, 21, opened his Foxes goal account in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.
The Nigerian hopes his strike against the Championship side will be the first of many for him at the King Power.
“I’m pleased to get on the scoresheet,” Iheanacho reflected to LCFC TV on Wednesday.
“It was a great game and I’m happy to play 80 minutes and we’re happy to win the game and go to the next round.
“It means a lot to me. I’m happy to get my first goal and I hope there are many more to come in the future.”
Iheanacho’s goal was a well-taken one. Initially, he looked as if he would shoot with his right foot, but shaped it onto his left before converting from the edge of the box.
He continued: “I wanted to take it with my right foot but I wasn’t too sure, so I got it back onto my left foot and put it into the corner.
“It was a great goal so I’m happy to get a goal and help the team to go to the next round.”
Moments after hitting the target, Iheanacho then turned provider for Islam Slimani.
“It was a great run and a great finish from Slim (Islam Slimani),” added the ex-Manchester City man.
“It was a great partnership between me and him. I’m not going to call it a competition because we are all one. We do well in training and we are together.”
Iheanacho will be aiming to continue his fine form when Leicester face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.
