Former presidential candidate Oby Ezekwesili has paid tribute to her mother Cecilia Ujubuonu who died of cancer on June 21 aged 78.
Mrs Ezekwesili said in a Twitter thread on Friday that though she and her family are still heartbroken, they have hope that their matriarch is resting in peace.
She wrote: “Today is August 21. It is now 2 months since June 21 that our #Unforgettable #Nnem took her final beautiful breath and joyfully returned to her Beloved Jesus.
“Heartbroken but we are daily made strong as we learn to rejoice in the Hope of Resurrection morning.
“Her legacy of faith, character, deep love for God and sacrificial service are the priceless inheritance #Nnem gave us. We shall forever cherish our beautiful heritage.
“We thank and bless all who mourned with us and sent words of prayer and comfort. Our hearts will go on.”
A native of Ndodolu Village, Umunuko, Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Ezekwesili’s mum was widowed following the death of her husband Benjamin Ujubuonu in 1988.
Born on April 18, 1942, Ujubuonu who was a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God died in the arms and home of her daughter Ezekwesili in Abuja.
