The Falconets of Nigeria kept their promise of bouncing back at the FIFA U20 Women World Cup by defeating Canada 3-1 on Wednesday in their second game.
Tutored by Dedevbo Peter, the side were hammered 6-0 by Japan in their opening fixture of the tournament in Papua New Guinea.
But the gaffer promised that his wards will put in a better display when they face the North Americans at the Beva Park Port Moresby.
And they did just that, producing an unbelievable display to come from a goal down to defeat their Group B rival.
It seemed as if it was going to be another mulling when Gabrielle Carle struck after just 15 minutes to put the Canadians in front.
However, one minute into added time, Chinasa Uchendu drew the Falconets level from the penalty spot after Canada skipper, Bianca St Georges, handled the ball inside the 18-yard box.
The Falconets then went 2-1 up in the 46th minute when Joy Bokiri smashed in a left-foot shot after an initial clearance by a Canadian defender came off Chiwendu Ihezuo.
And in the 73rd minute, Ihezuo made it three after pouncing on a poor clearance by Canada goalkeeper, Rules Foster, to slide the ball into an empty net.
Spain pipped Japan 1-0 in the other group game – meaning the Nigerians trail both nations.
The last group games will see the young Falcons face Spain while Canada and Japan will trade tackle on Sunday.
