The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed to arraign former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode on Tuesday over alleged forgery of a medical report.
The arraignment which was to be done before Justice Oluwabunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos was stalled because Mr Fani-Kayode challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the charge.
His lawyer Wale Balogun told the court that the alleged offence could not be tried in Lagos.
Justice Abike-Fadipe heard arguments from the lawyer and the EFCC on whether the court could entertain this objection to the charge before a plea could be taken.
The court then fixed its ruling to December 17.
Fani-Kayode is facing 12 counts in a single charge bordering on allegedly procuring and using a false medical report from the Kubwa General Hospital in Abuja by the EFCC.
In count one, the EFCC alleged that the ex-minister in October fraudulently procured one Dr. Ogieva Oziegbe in Lagos to issue the fake medical report.
