Ghanaian Regina Fani-Kayode says although she has been married to the former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode for 23 years, he has never subjected her to physical abuse.
Regina told PUNCH on Monday amid allegations that Fani-Kayode is separated from Precious Chikwendu due to abuse.
Fani-Kayode married Chikwendu, a former beauty queen, in 2014. They welcomed a son in 2016 and a set of triplets in 2018.
The Ghanaian, however, claimed Fani-Kayode did not marry Chikwendu legally but traditionally.
Claiming to be the legal wife, Regina said she wedded the ex-minister based on Ghanaian customs in 1997 and contracted the union by law at the Apapa Registry in Lagos in 2002.
The duo have a daughter named Oluwaremilekun.
Regina described as “fake” “malicious” and “false” the allegations they were divorced and that Fani-Kayode abused her.
“He has never subjected me to any form of domestic abuse or treated me badly,” she said.
Chikwendu’s uncle Okey Onyemachi had also told Premium Times that there was no case of domestic violence. He also debunked rumour that Fani-Kayode is not the father of the four boys.
Meanwhile, Regina said she gave her blessing for the former minister to take another wife after she relocated to Ghana.
Fani-Kayode and Chikwendu have refused to speak publicly about their discord.
