Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticised British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, for prostrating before President Muhammadu Buhari.
The boxer, as a mark of respect, on Saturday prostrated before Buhari during a meeting in London.
Displeased by the gesture, Mr Fani-Kayode said on Twitter on Sunday that Joshua’s behaviour was “utterly repulsive and disgusting”.
He said: “I find this picture and @anthonyfjoshua’s behaviour utterly repulsive and disgusting. Prostrating before his slave master and a bloodthirsty dictator and tyrant who is viciously persecuting and humiliating his people: what a crying shame. This speaks volumes. He has lost me!”
Joshua’s gesture drew varying reactions on social media.
The boxer, who continues to enjoy support from Nigerians, presented his IBF, WBO, WBA and IBO heavyweight titles to Buhari.
He reclaimed the titles last December from Mexican-American boxer, Andy Ruiz Jr., through unanimous points decision in Saudi Arabia.
