Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has attacked a former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, for dumping the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr Daniels had in a letter dated March 14, 2019 written to PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, that he was quitting the party and partisan politics as well.
In a rather dramatic turn on Sunday, the 62-year-old was besieged by his supporters and loyalists who conveyed at his Asoludero residence in Sagamu to lead them to the APC.
Mr Fani-Kayode in reaction wrote on Monday on Twitter that it was ‘tragic’ for Daniels to dump the PDP presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Atiku Abubakar, before the petition at the tribunal had been decided.
He wrote: “For the 1st DG of @atiku’s PCO and his closest confidante in SW to dump @OfficialPDPNig and join @OfficialAPCNg before the conclusion of Atiku’s election petition is sad. For a man that was gunning to be SGF in an Atiku govt. to join Buhari after Atiku was rigged out is tragic!”
In follow-up tweets, Fani-Kayode said: “For a man that was @atiku’s spokesman to say he was not a member of @OfficialPDPNig but still a member of @OfficialAPCNg 3 days before the pres. election was sad. For that man to have won only 2 votes for Atiku in his polling booth and lost his ward/LGA to Buhari is tragic.
“For the 2nd DG of @atiku’s PCO and his closest confidante in the NC to lose every single LGA in his state to Buhari during the pres. election is sad. For that same man to win only 2 wards in his entire state for @OfficialPDPNig and Atiku during that same pres. election is tragic.”
