In a rare departure from his vicious attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari, former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has commended the President for declaring June 12 as Nigeria’s new Democracy Day.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also applauded Buhari for conferring a posthumous Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) national honour on the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Moshood Abiola.
“This is long overdue and I am pleasantly surprised,” Fani-Kayode, wrote in a Twitter message on Wednesday night.
Abiola won the 1993 presidential election but was prevented from taking office when the results were annulled and later died while struggling to actualise the mandate.
