Former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode on Tuesday dismissed the fuss over the outfit of his party’s vice-presidential candidate Kashim Shettima at the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association’s annual general conference.
Shettima showed up at the conference in Lagos on Monday dressed in a suit, red tie and a pair of sneakers. He represented his party’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu at the conference.
A photo of him seated with his suit buttoned and his tie bulging has elicited various reactions. Many of his critics said Shettima lacks style.
Reacting to the comments, Fani-Kayode said in a tweet that Nigerians should be more concerned about Shettima’s eloquence and composure at the conference.
“Instead of appreciating the brilliance and profundity of his passion, eloquence, intellect, knowledge and delivery some are obsessing about his suit, tie and shoes!
“Congrats to my friend and brother His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, Nigeria’s incoming Vice President, for a superlative performance at the NBA conference yesterday! You did us proud!” the ex-minister wrote.
Spokesman of the APC presidential campaign council Festus Keyamo also reacted to the buzz by recreating the photo.
