Social media users are blaming Canadian musician, Drake, for the surprise loss of Anthony Joshua to Mexican underdog, Andy Ruiz Jr, on Sunday.
Anthony Joshua’s US debut ended in defeat as he lost his World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organization titles to the previously unknown boxer.
Fans are tracing the loss to a picture taken with Drake before the match which they believe triggered the ‘Drake Curse.’
The curse comes into effect after taking a picture with the ‘Hotline Bling’ singer with athletes going on to lose their next games.
Italian football club, AS Roma, banned its players from taking pictures with him in April when a series of European clubs lost league games after their stars snapped pictures with the then on-tour star.
Joshua had posed for a picture with Drake in May vowing to break the curse.
