Grammy Award winner Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is currently trending on Twitter as his fans continue to celebrate ‘World Wizkid Day’.

Although the 31-year-old was born in July 1990, he is celebrated every October 6, courtesy of the former governor of Minnesota Mark Dayton who declared the date ‘Wizkid Day’ in 2018.

According to the document, which was officially signed, stamped and sealed by the former governor during his tenure, the reason behind the declaration was to honour Wizkid for his laudable achievements in music and for his role as a culture influencer.

Some of the singer’s achievements as mentioned in the document include being the first African artiste to sell out the Skyway Theatre Minneapolis, making a Billboard number one hit ‘One Dance’ with Drake, selling out the O2 Arena London, walking the runway as a model for Dolce and Gabbana, winning countless international awards, among other notable milestone achievements.

Fans of the singer on Wednesday celebrated him. The celebration, however, continued on Thursday following Wizkid’s trending on Twitter.

A fan of the artiste Wizkid Legend, while celebrating the singer, shared some pictures of the proclamation document and quoted it in part as he wrote, “Three years ago on this day in 2018 ‘Wizkid has inspired Minnesota & music fans around the world, as one of the biggest cultural influencers of our time. Now, therefore, I, Mark Dayton, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Saturday, October 6, 2018, as Wizkid Day.”

Another fan wrote: “Las las everybody na Wizkid FC. Happy World Wizkid Day.”

Another fan tweeted, “Every day is #WorldWizkidDay.”

“We lead and others follow, Wizkid has been trending since yesterday, that is an achievement, Wizkid is currently the biggest act in Africa, argue with your village people,” another fan boasted.
