Vice-chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU) Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has said that the former minister of works and housing Babatunde Fashola will deliver the university’s 27th convocation lecture slated for June 4.
The lecture is themed “Embracing the Future: Navigating the Intersection of Technology and Humanity.”
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Olatunji-Bello said: “Fashola was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (Urban and Rural Community Development and Youth Empowerment) at our last convocation.
“The convocation lecture will be chaired by Emeritus Prof. Peter Okebukola, who was a distinguished Professor of Science and Computer Education until retirement from our university.
“Okebukola was conferred with the exclusive rank of Emeritus Professor, the first in the history of our institution by the Senate of the University.”
She added that in the area of infrastructural development, the university collaborated with Lagos State Government and well-meaning individuals, to expand its infrastructure with new buildings.
“Worthy of mention are the Femi Gbajabiamila Conference Centre, LASU ACEITSE STEM Education laboratory building and Samuel Adedoyin ICT Centre recently handed over to the university.
“We also revamped and remodelled some of our existing facilities including the students affairs building through the support of TETFUND,” Olatunji-Bello said.
The vice-chancellor added that Prof. Martins Anetekhai, Prof Amidu Sanni, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, and Samuel Adedoyin will be honoured at the event.
