Umaru Badami, father of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has died at age 82.
The governor’s spokesman, Solomon Kumangar, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the octogenarian died on Sunday around 2.30 p.m. after a protracted illness.
“He was on admission at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola and was discharged yesterday only to later collapse,” Mr Kumagar said.
The deceased, a retired soldier, is survived by a wife and six children, including Fintiri.
Badami has been buried according to Islamic rites after funeral prayers at the Yola Central Mosque.
