Father pleads for release of ‘gospel singer’ Timilehin Ajayi after gruesome NYSC member murder

The father of Timilehin Ajayi, the self-proclaimed gospel singer arrested for the murder of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Salome Adaidu, has appealed for his son’s release.

Ajayi, 32, was apprehended recently with the severed head of Salome, a 24-year-old corps member. He has since been remanded by a Nasarawa State High Court.

The horrific incident occurred in Agwan Sarki, Orozo, a community near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). While Salome’s family continues to mourn, Ajayi’s father, in an interview with Channels Television, pleaded for leniency.

“I want the government to help me so that the matter is settled. I want them to help me beg so that he is released,” he said.

In contrast, Ajayi’s mother expressed her faith in the government’s judgment. “If it was one of my daughters they did that to, how would I feel?” she asked.

“So, the government can do anything they want to do. Everything is in their hands,” she concluded.

During interrogation, Ajayi, who also brands himself as a motivational speaker on TikTok, confessed to the crime.

He claimed to have been in a one-year relationship with Adaidu before her death, a claim the deceased’s family has since denied.

In a viral video, the suspect disclosed that the rest of Salome’s remains were at his residence.

Salome’s remains have been laid to rest. A viral video from the burial captured mourners’ grief as a group of men interred her body amidst heart-wrenching cries.
