Tears and curses flowed freely as the remains of slain All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Bunmi Ojo, were laid to rest in his hometown, Ido Ekiti, in Ido-Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Friday.
Ojo was murdered by unknown gunmen at a football viewing centre in Ado Ekiti on Friday, August 10.
All markets were closed while some public offices were deserted in honour of the slain politician who was also a personal assistant to former Governor Segun Oni.
Among those who attended the funeral service held at Methodist Church, Ido Ekiti was Ekiti Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi.
He was a commissioner in the Federal Character Commission.
Governor Ayodele Fayose was represented at the funeral by his Chief of Staff, Dipo Anisulowo.
Mr Oni was there too.
Speaking at the funeral service, Rev. Olanrewaju Komolafe, described death as an inevitable end.
Komolafe said though Ojo died when it was least expected, he had fulfilled his purpose in life.
He condoled with family members, relatives, political parties and acquaintances present at the event and urged them to live a life worthy of emulation like the late Ojo did.
Scores of wailing women walked around the premises of the church hurling curses at Ojo’s killers while the funeral was on.
The sympathisers intermittently disrupted the church service with songs laced with abuses and curses while they turned their clothes inside out and also removed their headgears to register their agony.
Securitymen had a hectic time controlling the women.
