The Federal Appeal Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has dismissed an appeal filed by former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni, challenging the eligibility of Governor Kayode Fayemi to contest the May 12, 2018 governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti.
The three Justices led by Justice Emmanuel Agim, on Tuesday, unanimously dismissed Oni’s appeal for lack of merit.
Justice Agim held that Fayemi was validly nominated and had complied with the requirement of the Nigerian constitution.
A Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti had in December 2018 dismissed a suit filed by Oni challenging Fayemi’s eligibility to contest the July 14 governorship election.
