Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has paid a visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
Fayemi’s visit to the monarch on Sunday came days after the Alaafin wrote him a letter against treating the traditional institution in Yorubaland with levity.
Fayemi had last week written to 16 monarchs in Ekiti whom he accused of being absent from council meetings and state functions without taking excuse.
The Alaafin, in his letter, wrote on behalf of other prominent traditional rulers in Yorubaland, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona; and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Gbadebo Adedotun.
His letter, however, was followed by a rebuke from the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, whom 11 monarchs in Ekiti would not recognise as chairman of the state’s traditional council.
