Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and his counterparts in Rivers, Nyesom Wike; and Oyo, Seyi Makinde and other high profile individuals on Saturday graced the traditional wedding ceremony of the son of ex-Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose.
Oluwanigba Fayose wedded Olamide Adekunle Abdul at The Monarch event centre, Lekki Peninsula II, Lagos.
Mr Makinde and Fayose had endured a difficult time after the latter insisted he was the rightful leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the south-west, not the former.
A statement by Wike’s media aide Kelvin Ebiri quoted Makinde as saying that the presence of Fayemi and erstwhile governor of Ekiti Segun Oni at the wedding should serve as a lesson to Nigerians to eschew politics of bitterness and hatred.
“Here you have former governors of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, Fayose, and current Governor Fayemi. They have all ruled Ekiti one time or the other. They are not in the same political party.
“So, those of you who want to die because of us politicians, please politics, governance is not something that should lead to anybody losing his or her life,” he said.
Makinde cautioned those bent on dividing Nigeria along religious lines to take a cue from the Fayose and Adekunle Abdul families, who despite being Christians and Muslims respectively, consented to their children getting married.
