The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday accused former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, of compromising one of the prosecution witnesses.
Mr Fayose’s N2.2 billion fraud trial was restarted on Monday at the Federal High Court in Lagos nearly a year after the trial first opened before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun.

EFCC counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, however, told Justice C.J. Aneke on Friday that the anti-graft agency had decided to use another witness in the place of the one allegedly compromised by Fayose.
According to Mr Jacobs, Fayose had met and threatened the witness, Adewale Aladegbola, a bullion van driver with Zenith Bank, Ado Ekiti branch.
Jacobs said that the alleged threat caused the driver to give a different testimony to Justice Olatoregun from what he gave the EFCC during investigation.
Fayose was first arraigned on October 22 on an 11-count charge of receiving and keeping N1.2 billion and $5 million stolen funds from the office of National Security Adviser (NSA) contrary to the Money Laundering Act.

He was charged alongside his company, Spotless Limited.
He pleaded not guilty to the same charges and was allowed to remain on bail earlier granted him by Justice Olatoregun.
