Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, says he welcomes immediate past governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, to what he called ‘EFCC Alumni’.
Mr Okorocha, a member of All Progressives Congress (APC) handed over to Emeka Ihedioha of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.
Rumours of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigating Okorocha reached its peak on Thursday when unconfirmed reports of his arrest went public.
Despite EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, describing the reports as “fake news”, Mr Fayose said in a tweet on Thursday that he knew that the day of Okorocha’s arrest would come someday.
Fayose, who is facing 11-count charge of money laundering by EFCC, also called on the anti-graft agency to go after immediate past governor of Ogun State who is now Senator-elect, Ibikunle Amosun.
“Just reading that Okorocha was arrested by EFCC. True or not, we knew this day will come,” Fayose wrote on Twitter.
“However, I welcome him to the EFCC Alumni & enjoin the commission not to look away from Amosun too.
“While I encourage them to surrender themselves as I did, I welcome Mr Okorocha to the club.”
