The FCT Police Command and Plateau Police Command have said they are unaware of an alleged N180 million stolen from a non-governmental organisation founded by social media personality Martins Otse aka VeryDarkMan (VDM).

In a video posted on Instagram on Friday, VeryDarkMan claimed his NGO’s account was hacked, resulting in the theft of over N180 million.

He claimed a suspect was arrested and the account frozen to prevent further breaches.

He also mentioned that he was heading to Jos to recover the stolen funds.

However, in response to enquiries on Saturday, the FCT Command’s spokesperson Josephine Adeh said the case was not reported.

“The FCT Police Command is not aware of any case involving VDM’s missing funds and is not conducting any investigation into it.

“The individual in question should be contacted to clarify where the matter was reported, as there is no record of such a case with the FCT Police Command,” said Adeh.

According to the police public relations officer in Plateau State Alabo Alfred, the matter was not reported to the command and the alleged crime was not committed within their jurisdiction.

“The matter is not reported to us. We are not the ones handling the matter because the crime was not committed within our jurisdiction. If he said he is coming to Jos, that does not mean that we are the ones handling the case,” he said.

The Martins Vincent Otse Initiative was launched in October, with the goal of addressing Nigeria’s educational challenges.

The NGO received significant donations including N100 million from music producer Don Jazzy.
