Malam Bala Usman, the Jigawa Coordinator, Federal Government Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (HGSPF), has warned teachers in the state against consuming pupils’ meals.
Usman gave the caution during an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday.
NAN reports that some of the cooks engaged to prepare the meals alleged that some of the teachers were sharing some meals meant for the children.
The coordinator said: ‘‘Aggressive measures will be taken and sanctions will be applied on every teacher that found consuming the food.
“Henceforth, cooks should be well sensitised to desist from such attitude.’’
According to him, the programme is being implemented in 2,250 public schools in the state.
Usman, who disclosed that 3,992 cooks were engaged to prepare the meals, added that a range of 100 to 150 was allocated to each of the cooks in the programme.
He further warned the cooks against changing the food menu without the consent of the authorities.
The coordinator stated that from October 31, 2017, and February 27, about 692,380 pupils were fed in the programme.
