Motunrayo Kuti, daughter of music legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has applauded filmmaker Bolanle Austen-Peters for directing a biopic about her grandmother Funmilayo Rasnome-Kuti.
Funmilayo: The Lioness of Lisabi based on the life of the late activist, premiered on Wednesday at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF).
Motunrayo who attended the premiere with her husband took to Instagram to appreciate the entire cast and crew.
She wrote: “I had an amazing experience yesterday watching my grandmother #funmilayo movie. I didn’t get to meet her because of you guys know why… The movie is very inspiring to me and I loved every bit of it.
“The cast and crew to delivery was so so so good I must say Aunty Bolanle did a great job.

Funmilayo was an educator and women’s rights activist.
She died on April 13 1978 at age 77.
