Yoruba-language actor, director and producer, Femi Adebayo, got married to Omotayo Sanusi, on Sunday, October 9, six weeks and four days after actress, Funke Akindele, exchanged vows with Abdul Rasheed Bello.
Apart from acting, Funke and Femi, who were once rumoured to have dated each other, both graduated as lawyers.
They have both taken a second shot at marriage.
Femi’s first marriage to a lady named Khadijat officially ended in 2011 after two years of separation. They got married in 2004.
Funke Akindele’s first marriage to Kehinde Oloyede lasted for 14 months. The two got (unequally) yoked on May 26, 2012.
A statement signed by the actress’ publicist and sister, Ayo Ola Mohammed, on July 19, 2013 officially confirmed one of the worst kept celebrity news of the first half of the year.
With scars of their failed marriages eventually healing, Femi and Funke decided to give marriage a second chance.
Funke went first.
The 39-year-old actress got married to Bello (better known as JJC) on the eve of her birthday on August 24. It was a secret affair held in London. The couple managed to keep their wedding from the media, with only very close family and friends present as witnesses.
A statement by Funke’s publicist, Biodun Kupoluyi, said “The decision to do it quietly was right for us and we pray for the understanding of our close friends and fans at this offer of a lifetime moment.”
Femi also towed the line of Funke by opting for an almost secret wedding.
The 39-year-old actor kept news of his wedding from the media until the eve of the ceremony.
According to him, the decision “is best for us as I have been on the lane before and my wife has never been. I have to protect her privacy at all cost.”
The wedding was not so secret after all as family, friends and colleagues of the actor turned out in large number.
Like JJC, Femi Adebayo had three children before coming into the new marriage.
